In 2022, CATO Location Services collaborated with a number of domestic and international productions filming in New South Wales. Across the state, CATO has provided various productions with unit management, production vehicles, traffic management, security, safety and Covid management among other services, in order to ensure that shooting on location runs as seamlessly as possible.

Featuring major car chase scenes, Russell Crowe’s second film as writer-director, Poker Face, saw the CATO crew implementing large-scale lockdowns in Sydney’s CBD. The 2022 thriller, which features Liam Hemsworth as well as Crowe himself, also includes scenes shot at Sea Cliff Bridge. As a popular filming location on the South Coast of NSW, CATO has had extensive experience locking down Sea Cliff Bridge, having worked at the location a multitude of times with productions ranging from TV commercials to feature films.

Later in 2022, CATO was honoured to be nominated for the Services and Facilities Business of the Year Award for their work on The Invisible Man at the Screen Producers Australia Awards. Despite being set in San Francisco, The Invisible Man was filmed around central Sydney as well as at locations on Sydney’s north and south coasts. Providing traffic control and security services, CATO worked with the production at locations including Sydney’s CBD, St Ives and Kiama.

Released with tremendous success in November, CATO also had the pleasure to work on the Australian series Heartbreak High. CATO provided a variety of services on production, including unit management, traffic management, cleaning, Covid consulting and the hire of production vehicles. Shot around Sydney’s eastern suburbs, the teen drama features multiple recognisable locations and was well-received domestically and by a large international audience.

Ending 2022 with a bang, CATO is extremely proud to have provided all traffic management for the City of Sydney New Year’s Eve celebrations. Reaching capacity with over 1 million attendees, the New Year’s Eve event held in the heart of Sydney’s CBD is the largest Australia-wide. This also marked the start of CATO’s three-year tenure with City of Sydney.

CATO was also responsible for all traffic management and security for the Northern Beaches council. This was the fifth year in a row that CATO has run the New Year’s Eve celebrations for the Northern Beaches, successfully managing three different locations in Manly, Dee Why and Frenchs Forest.
