Filming has wrapped on the second season of Australian Fremantle/Netflix series Heartbreak High. After a successful first season working with Fremantle, CATO Location Services was re-engaged to provide traffic management, security and production vehicle hire.
Filming for Heartbreak High season two took place in a fully operational school environment and posed specific challenges that required consideration. Managing on-set security, CATO were able to navigate these challenges and minimise the level of disruption to filming, whilst handling interactions between cast, crew and members of the community in a mindful way.
David Watts, On-Set Location Manager, said “The team have been going above and beyond. We’re very happy with CATO’s work on this production and look forward to continuing to work with them.”
CATO also provided Heartbreak High with one of its newest, most premium production vehicles. Honeywagon 4 is the first towable caravan in the CATO fleet and is designed to accommodate VIP crew members. By offering this as an alternative to a traditional makeup or wardrobe truck, CATO was able to provide a premium level of service whilst minimising costs for the Production.
In 2022 Heartbreak High season 1 was the most-watched television show on Netflix in Australia for its first week of release and made the top ten list in 45 other countries. CATO are proud to have been involved in such a successful production which has received international and domestic acclaim.
CATO is a Climate Active carbon-neutral certified organisation and was officially carbon-neutral for the filming period of both Heartbreak High seasons one and two. “It’s great to be engaged with productions that share our same values,” says Kieran Cato, CATO MD. In 2022, Netflix committed to bringing its net carbon footprint to zero and, like CATO, is a partner of Sustainable Screens Australia.
CATO has been nominated for the Screen Producers Australia Services and Facilities Business of the Year award in 2024 for its work on Heartbreak High season two. In 2023, CATO received the award for its work on Nutopia’s Limitless with Chris Hemsworth.

At this year’s 21st annual Screen Producers Australia (SPA) Awards, CATO Location Services was named Service and Facilities Business of the Year. The award was given in conjunction with Silver Trak Digital and announced on the final night of Screen Forever 37 on the Gold Coast. CATO is honoured to have been a member of SPA for the last six years.
