CATO work on major international TV and Film productions shooting in Australia

December 2024

As we reflect on another tough year for the industry, here are some of our favourite productions shining a light on some of what Australia has to offer.

Heartbreak High, Season 3

CATO returned to Hartley High for the third and final season of Heartbreak High which commenced filming in early November, in Sydney’s Eastern Suburb on Maroubra and parts of Sydney Metro. After S1 & S2 were met with international acclaim, we were thrilled to be back on set providing Traffic Management and Security. The hit series previously reached the top ten shows on Netflix across 43 countries within the first week of its release and was recently awarded an international Emmy. Working alongside Netflix, a fellow partner of Sustainable Screens Australia, CATO is proud to have been a carbon-neutral organisation for the duration of filming on all three seasons.

Limitless with Chris Hemsworth, Season 2

Also embarking on its second season in 2024, CATO was re-engaged to provide Unit, Safety/Stunts and  Security on Limitless with Chris Hemsworth. After successfully providing over ten different services on season one, it was great to be back working again with the Limitless crew. This season saw MD Kieran Cato travel to remote communities in the Northern Territory. Kieran said working on season two was unique as the crew required access to roads that had been officially closed by the state government. Being able to troubleshoot the challenges associated with a lack of access, and ensure the team were still able to shoot safely in such remote areas, was a huge highlight of the trip for CATO.

Narrow Road To The Deep North

The latest Australian Original drama series just wrapped production in New South Wales, with CATO Location Services providing Traffic Management and Security services. The new five-part drama series, received major production investment from Screen Australia, with assistance from the NSW Government through Screen NSW’s Made in NSW and PDV Funds. Based on Richard Flanagan’s Booker Prize winning novel, the Amazon Prime Video series has been adapted by writer Shaun Grant, directed by Justin Kurzel and starring Euphoria’s Jacob Elordi.

Critical Incident

Shot on location in Sydney’s West, CATO Location Services provided Traffic Management and Security for the Stan Original series, Critical Incident. The six part series premiered back in August on the streaming service with major financial backing by Screen Australia and Stan, the series examines the role of policing in diverse communities, when a police officer pursues a teenage suspect onto a busy train platform, and a bystander is critically injured, the lives of pursuer and pursued are thrown into turmoil.

Home and Away, Season 37

Amassing an impressive 37 seasons, the classic Australian series Home & Away returned once again in 2024, after close to a decade working with the production team. Filmed in Palm Beach & Avalon on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, CATO has provided Security and Traffic Management further strengthening our long-standing partnership.
